Life Transition Counseling

Are you having a difficult time dealing with a new change? Do you need help navigating due to a recent change in your life? Do you feel emotionally drained due to recent changes in your career, family, or relationship?

You are not the only one.

Change. New experiences. Differences. Variation. Alteration. Adjustment. Revolution. Modification. Transformation.

These are all words that can be used when discussing changes in one's lifestyle. These transitions occur naturally as a part of life and many of us become vulnerable as a result of the unknown related to the change. This may cause our mood to shift and we may have emotions that are more challenging to adjust to. Some of the emotions related to transitions are stress, worry, anxiety, frustration, helplessness. You may also experience fatigue, loss of appetite or sleep.

You may believe Life Transition Therapy can help you, but you still have concerns.

  • Life transitions can be any change that impacts your life in a major way. The impact can be positive or negative. It can also be unplanned, big or small. These changes can affect your lifestyle, activities of daily living, mental health, and well-being. Sometimes you may feel stuck when a change occurs and not know what to do next. Sometimes the transition can be painful. We provide guidance to assist you in maneuvering through the changes and the feelings related to the changes.

  • During your initial therapy session, we will work together to identify your reasons for coming to therapy. In the following sessions you will be able to share openly in a nonjudgemental space your concerns and the impact those challenges have had on your emotional and mental health.

  • Depending upon the changes and its impact on your life, we will determine what is best for you. For example, the initial change may be the process of becoming a divorcee. Life after divorce may be difficult to maneuver and is not an is not an easy change. This type of transition impacts your social support and relationship, career, your relationship with your ex-spouse if children are involved, and overall lifestyle. We will navigate the transition together and ensure that you are equipped with tools for a successful transition.
